Overview

Bona Prime Classic UX is the updated version of Bona's most popular primer. It controls tannin bleed, enhances grain appearance, and provides a consistent base for topcoats. The UX formula offers improved flow and levelling compared to the original Classic.

Use on all Australian hardwood species as a standard primer. For high-tannin species like Blackbutt and Tallowwood, use Bona Prime Intense instead.

Technical Specifications

  • Type: Waterborne primer/sealer
  • Coverage: 8-10 m2/litre
  • Dry time: 1-2 hours at 20C
  • Coats: 1 coat before topcoat
  • Compatible topcoats: All Bona waterborne finishes
  • Tone: Slight warm amber

Primer Selection Guide

  • Classic UX: General purpose, slight warm tone. Most species.
  • Intense: High-tannin species. Blackbutt, Tallowwood, Merbau.
  • White: Scandinavian/bleached look. European Oak, Tassie Oak.
  • Amberseal: Rich amber tone. Heritage floors, Jarrah, Red Mahogany.
